I love the way my students love to create! This past year I taught kindergarten and am moving up to first grade for this upcoming year. Last year we had Creativity Centers daily where children always wanted go to the art center. Art projects were posted all around that room that they created and were so proud of! This upcoming year first grade will have Fun Fridays for making good choices. Since I have some of the same students this upcoming year I would like to have art as an option. However, my markers were all dried up by the end of the year. We saved all of the markers and sent them away to be recycled at the end of the year.
My Project
As primary learners, my students are learning how to create, draw, and illustrate their thinking while improving their fine motor and motor planning skills. By being able to use markers, colored pencils, and oil pastels, my students will be able to express themselves and practice skills learned in school. My goal is to develop their skill set and allow them to collaborate on art projects with their classmates. Last year I observed students working together and bringing joy to the classroom as they made art gifts for each other. Not only am I looking to foster the arts, but I am striving to build a classroom community. Young children love to give each other pictures.
