We are all children at heart - right? Family Game Nights have become a popular tradition over the last few years. Why can't we incorporate this quality time into the classroom?
I am a resource teacher at Palmetto High School. I work with students who have learning disabilities in the areas of reading, math and writing. These students need lots of support and motivation. One way I like to motivate them is through my version of Family Game Night.
Students have the opportunity to participate in FUN FRIDAY if they are successful in their regular education classes. Students must be caught up in each class, and they must have a passing grade in each of their classes to participate in FUN FRIDAY. My high school students look forward to FUN FRIDAY!
I am requesting a collection of games for my classroom - classics from Scrabble, Uno, Checkers and Monopoly to Cranium and Soduku.
I have had great success with FUN FRIDAY in my classroom. Students are motivated to work hard in their regular education classrooms to maintain passing grades-which is my main goal for each student. High school students enjoy spending time with each other through games. I also enjoy having the opportunity to bond with my students through FUN FRIDAY.
