My Project

My students love having access to a variety of engaging books in our classroom library. Every week students get to choose new books to keep for the week and read during our literacy block. Since many of my students are still learning the code of English, the text in many of my books is not fully accessible to them. I know that their time reading independently is better spent practicing phonics features that they have been taught, but I don't want to take away the excitement of interesting fiction or non-fiction, and re-reading the same decodables over and over can get boring, and make students less excited to read.

By donating to our project, you will help my students build reading confidence and excitement by finding books they can read independently in my classroom library without sacrificing engagement.

Students will be able to learn about their favorite science topics and read a variety of fun stories with relatable characters, while practicing their decoding skills!

Ms. La Rue will only receive her materials if this project is fully funded by August 28.
