This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Foundational reading skills are primarily taught in Kindergarten and first grade. Unfortunately, many of the students at our school are missing some vital foundational skills. This creates gaps in their learning that hinders their ability to make adequate gains in reading. Implementing an intensive, systematic approach to support the needs of all of our students will be made a lot easier with these games that focus on phonemic awareness, CVC words, blends, digraphs, and other phonetic skills.
Games are a powerful and fun way to teach and reinforce phonemic awareness and phonics.
These activities will help our students master those foundational skills that they are missing in a fun and engaging way. Each of these activities will be shared with our K and First grade teachers during their grade level meetings to determine the most beneficial ways to implement them.
