Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are in high school grades 10 -12 grade in math and English classes in the Los Angeles area. They have learning challenges but work really hard to meet the standards of the curriculum. They have been struggling since the close of school due to the stress of virtual learning, but also have had many losses. Parents, grandparents, and siblings have been sick with COVID or died from it. Some of them contracted COVID themselves and struggled to catch up in school when they were too sick to work.
My Project
The primary goal of my plan is to reignite my student’s passion for learning by bridging the gap created by distance learning. I will be infusing interactive and individualized activities into my math and English classes. With the Cricut Maker 3, I will provide a fun and engaging learning environment to help them excel. Not only will this approach provide my students with a unique and creative way to interact, but it will also be instrumental in alleviating their stress and feelings of anxiety.
I plan to use the Cricut maker to create labels and individualized items that will be instrumental in recreating classroom structure lost during distance learning.
Additionally, I will create welcome signs that decrease anxiety by providing my students with a positive and welcoming environment to help them feel safe and protected.
