Fun Books in Spanish to Keep Our Multi-Lingual Students Reading!
Help me give my students who are multi language learners a selection of fun, appealing books in Spanish in the media center so that they have the opportunity to keep reading.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My school has a high percentage of multi-lingual students and I am in need of popular, engaging titles in Spanish to add to the media center collection so that I can meet the needs of these students. Many come to our school only speaking and reading in Spanish or have limited English language skills. While they develop their English language skills it is important to keep them reading by providing books in their native language.
Our Spanish language books are extremely well used and in need of an infusion of new titles.
Graphic novels are especially popular in particular the "Dog Man" series by Dav Pilkey. I want to provide popular titles like "Dog Man" that allow students who speak Spanish to enjoy reading the same books as their peers.
Encouraging reading is a core part of my job as a media coordinator because the ability to read is crucial and just as crucial is fostering a life long love of reading. We have the most amazing students at our school. Many come to us with major challenges to overcome and we have to provide the resources they need to meet these challenges. But, we also need to provide books for entertainment. We have many students who do not have home libraries and the books they check out from the media center are the only books they have access to at home. This project will go a long way to providing these books.
