My Project

After teaching the upper elementary grades for most of my career, I moved down to first grade at the beginning of this school year and I absolutely love working with these little ones. Something I noticed from working with upper elementary students was that a majority of the students were missing some key phonics skills in reading and basic "making ten" math skills. Teaching these foundational skills is something that I knew I wanted to do better as a lower grade teacher. I believe that small group instruction, as well as partner games, will be a fun and more engaging way to meet my students' needs in both reading and math. My team and I began researching the best resources to use. I fell in love with the resources provided by Tara West on Teachers Pay Teachers.

I would love TPT gift cards to be able to purchase Tara West's year long center resources bundle for first grade.

Tara West has created her own curriculum that follows the Science of Reading. Her center resources align perfectly with my district's phonics curriculum. Having these resources would help make learning and practicing our phonics skills so much easier for the students.

Tara West's math resources also provide engaging and fun activities that will really develop our learning and understanding of the key concepts in first grade. I know it would be very beneficial to my students to have these resources to prepare them for second grade in math and reading.
