This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
In Prekindergarten, we're beginning to develop the skills to make us excellent readers in the coming years. The best way we learn those skills is through play! When we're having this much fun we don't even notice that our teacher is following the science of reading and focusing on building both sides of the simple view of reading, word recognition and language comprehension.
Our play opportunities will focus on alphabet knowledge, phonemic awareness, language comprehension and vocabulary skills in our literacy small groups as research has shown these skills are important to our future literacy success.
These hands on materials will help us have fun at school, learn new skills and practice the skills we've already learned.
