My students do not always follow the rules. That's is why they ended up at my school, but that rule breaking is important in the world because those who break rules are the leaders and innovators of the future. Our challenge as teachers is to take this innovative spirit and center it on problems that need new ideas.
Our school is an alternative school.
Students who get kicked out of their schools for behavioral reasons get sent to us. Our students often come from difficult home situation, and some struggle socially.
My Project
Over the past five years, a group of teachers at our school created an elaborate incentive plan for academic success and positive behaviors. We have seen academic achievement rise every year in part because of the incentive plan we have created that rewards students in many ways including, but not limited to, positive phone calls homes, jeans days (students wear uniforms), books, and snacks. These candy bars, books, and art sets will be placed in our PBIS store for student to earn after receiving points from teachers. With less behavior challenges, student will be able to learn more!
With your help, we can continue to incentivize students, helping them achieve their goals and believe in themselves.
These items will be used in our Positive Behavior Intervention System store and in classrooms for participation and assessment excellence.
