Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, students in my class have several challenges, whether it be at school or at home. The majority of the students in my class are receiving free or reduced-price lunches, and many come from single-parent homes. One of my goals as a teacher is to provide a worry-free, fun, and exciting environment for these children to come to where they can forget their worries and fully engage their minds into learning.

And with that being said, I would love to arm these students with the most powerful weapon they can use, which is the education I provide them to help change our world.
My Project
Our students have such creative minds but we tend to lack the educational materials outside of your basic classroom instructional materials for them to exhibit their creativeness. I would like to afford them the opportunity to show me with these materials. These items will be used through science and reading instruction in the class as well as science lab time.
As Rabindranath Tagore stated, “Don’t limit a child to your own learning, for he was born in another time.” The engagement and collaboration that these STEM materials will provide will create a whole new learning experience for my students.
These materials will provide problem-solving, analytical thinking, and the ability to work independently.
I have motivated my students to get very involved in their own reading, but with the Folk Tales Problem Solving STEM Kits and Fairy Tales Problem Solving STEM Kits, they will make a connection from the outside world with their fictional reading as well. Also ensuring the students know the sky is the limit and they can be anything they want to be is a goal in my class. I would like to introduce them to some of the most prominent inventors or all time with the Famous Inventors Problem Solving STEM Kit and make them feel as though they can be one too as well as create their own inventions with the Gadgets & Gizmos Inventions Kit.
