My Students

My students are happy, inquisitive, eager-to-learn, and awesome. Each day they come into the classroom full of excitement, ready to see what they will learn! I teach 19 kindergarten students in an all day program in rural Oklahoma. I love their enthusiasm and eagerness.

My students are ready to experience everything that kindergarten has to offer.

They need resources that are inviting and keep them engaged. I feel it is an important part of my job as their teacher to provide them with these resources.

I teach kindergarten at a wonderful school. We are in a rural, high-needs area, and have a large percentage of students who receive free or reduced lunches. My students have differing family and educational backgrounds. Yet, each one comes to school with a great attitude, ready to learn, and be part of our school family. I love teaching kindergarten and strive to make my student's learning experiences unforgettable. I want to make this year the best it can be for all of my students. I want each student to experience success.

My Project

My students are eager to build and create during our center time. I want to encourage them to do just that with the new STEM activities that I am requesting in this project. Science, technology, engineering, and math are important skills for students to learn and develop. The students will love to work with new materials and will be learning at the same time!

STEM activities will help keep my students actively engaged as they build and create.

All the items I am requesting will be used to develop fine and gross motor development and encourage creativity and problem solving. The STEM Early Learning Kits, the playground engineering and design set, the tree house set, the Picasso tiles, the Brain Flakes are all designed to develop math concepts, spatial thinking, and and develop inquiry skills. We will use the materials such as the Squigz toys, Bristle Blocks, and craft sticks in centers for small group work. We will also use materials for whole group lessons as we learn more about STEM skills.

Our classroom is a great place to learn. These new materials will make it an even better place. My students will use these new materials not only this year but in the years to come. Let's give them a chance to learn in a fun, engaging way with awesome new manipulatives.

Thank you for your consideration of and help with my project. Let's go "Full STEM Ahead!" Thank you
