This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students come to school because every day is a day to become a better person.
My students are 4, 5 and 6-year-olds who are very eager to learn.
Most of them come from low income families with only one parent who is struggling to hold the family together. They struggle academically, have emotional and social challenges, and many suffer from family issues that are out of their control. They live in a neighborhood where two-thirds of family household income is below the federal poverty threshold and resources are not available for them.
My Project
My students will use the STEM materials to help learn problem-solving skills as well as creating or building real-world things. This materials will also help with learning how to work together in order to complete a project. They will use these materials to build bridges, learn the difference between force and motion while also experimenting, creating boats to learn about sink and float, and experiment building structures with blocks. My students will have to work together when creating or building so these projects help them develop the skills on working as a team. They will also have a ton of fun!
