Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
This is a title 1 inner city school in the Los Angeles metro area. 95% of our students qualify for free and reduce lunch. The students are full of curiosity and motivated to learn. We need materials to give our students experiences that they can't otherwise have.
Our STEAM lab will help all diverse learners in our community become familiar with the new Next Generation Science and Technology Standards.
It will feed their curiosity and motivate them to look into a subject area that they might otherwise fear.
My Project
LEGO Mindstorm EV3 will help start our STEAM labs. It will give our students a chance to create their own robots and help them with technology and engineering skills that they will need in their future education. The lab will give students the tools they need to succeed in the new Next Generation Science Standards.
This will give each a child an opportunity to participate and expand their knowledge in science engineering and technology.
This set will be shared with 3 different classes on a rotation basis. It will benefit 75 students in total. It will be a hands on participation in small leveled groups to ensure they all work cooperatively.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
