I teach in an urban neighborhood where families typically have household incomes that are below the federal poverty threshold. Although there are economic challenges and day-to-day struggles for our families, our school community does its best to advocate for our students to have the best educational experiences and opportunities so that they can grow up to achieve every dream they can imagine.
My kids are full of energy, creativity, intelligence, love, and curiosity.
This year I will teach STEAM to multiple classes ranging from grades 1-5. I'm trying to make sure that each and every child understands that the sky is the limit and that with an education, the possibilities of what they can do are endless.
Do you remember the first magazine subscription you received as a child? I remember mine and the excitement I got every time a new issue was delivered. I want to share that excitement with my students. I want them to get excited about science, technology, engineering, and mathematics in the hopes that they will aspire to pursue studies, and eventually careers, in the STEM field.
