Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

These materials will provide students with extra support to be creative and engaged throughout our classroom!

We are requesting engaging STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) tools like magnetic tile racers, an art drying rack, and math manipulatives that support cooperative learning.

I want my students to continue to build their engineering skills with a new tool and project, the magnetic tile marble race track. Fun activities such as this can provoke critical thinking as well as creativity. The art drying will be used to help us with maximizing space and time by allowing for more students to start projects at the same time with more drying areas. While the math manipulatives for multiplication pop-its and fraction cubes will provide hands-on practice for our current module on multiplying and dividing fractions.

The standing desk will be used for students to teach, showcase, and problem solve like a podium. I want my students to feel empowered and build their confidence in all curricular areas. We will set our document camera up on it for an easier and cleaner space to embrace a project based learning & cooperative learning environment in social emotional learning, math, and science!

Materials like labels, library cards, date stamp, & pencil sharpeners tie in all of our learning to stay organized in multi-step projects & efficiently seek books and work out problems in class!

The students in my classes work hard to be at school each day. The majority of the students at our school live in economic hardship. 100% of our student body receives free or reduced-price lunch, while several other families deal with homelessness or reside in emergency/transitional housing.

Increasing supportive class materials will help us have an engaging and fun class to learn and grow in together! Mahalo nui loa for your support!
