My Students

Our school is in Jenks, Oklahoma, a suburb of the city of Tulsa. It is a small town with a big heart and growing population. We are a part of the International Baccalaureate learning community, which is a worldwide programme that promotes learning through a variety of social and academic opportunities. The IB programm also fosters diversity, student agency, and curiosity.

My young artists are inquisitive, energetic, and always ready to create!

They love learning about artists, practicing new skills, and using new mediums to create art. Each visit to the art studio is a new opportunity for these artists to create something new and explore art through choices, practice, and imagination. Many students are new to art experiences and haven’t had many opportunities to use many of the art mediums introduced in my class. There artists are learning how to think, act, and work like an artist through TAB instructions (Teaching Artistic Behaviors).

My Project

My young artists love to learn about new art supplies and techniques. They love exploring and playing with various art materials and art supplies. Through the incorporation of a creative center, artists would have opportunities to work on their fine motor skills while testing their problem solving through STEAM activities. Found objects and building supplies will allow artists to build and construct temporary works of art. Stencils and drawing tools will increase their confidence in drawing. While they explore these reusable resources, they will increase their imagination and creativity skills.
