This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I see students who are willing and eager to learn but just don't always have the opportunity or materials to do so properly.

I teach at a Title I school in Arizona where 100 percent of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.

Many of the students receive backpack food on the weekend. They come into school everyday with a smile on their face because they want to learn all they can so they can be successful one day.

My Project

STEAM stands for science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics. STEAM activities in the classroom is important because it pervades every part of our lives. With the lego building blocks and snowflake building blocks students will be able to challenge themselves in various tasks. They will be able to think like an engineer and create a plan in order to complete the challenging tasks.

STEM activities provide hands-on and minds-on lessons for the students, making math and science both fun and interesting helps the student to do much more than just learn.

Students in first grade learn a lot through story stories and books. The books such as Iggy Peck Architect will help students understand what engineers and architects do in a way that they can comprehend. These books will also spark creativity for students. The magazine holder, magnetic book shelves and 6-cube organizer, will help us display books for students around the classroom.
