Full STEAM Ahead!

My students need LEGO bricks, Tinkertoys and Lincoln Logs to build STEAM bins in our classroom. My students need Lite Brite, story cubes, and craft sticks to add to our morning bins.

My Students

I love this group of first graders but they are very different than any first grade I have had. My friends love building, drawing, creating, and moving. We really like being in charge of other people’s lives, we’re bossy, and we struggle to share. It has been a fun year but exhausting at times.

We recognize and embrace the power of open-ended STEAM experiences for young children that foster essential critical thinking and problem solving skills.

My diverse class of students love to explore our classroom each and every day! They have the potential to be ANYTHING! Every day, I am amazed at just how innovative and creative they are.

My Project

My project items will be used in my classroom to incorporate the exploration of STEAM. The bins will help to keep our supplies organized and easily accessible in our classroom space. LEGO bricks are quite easily the most well-known of the materials on this list that will allow my students to become engineers.

Engineers, they said?!

The Magna-Tiles, Tinkertoys, and Lincoln logs will allow my students to build while also communicating with each other. My students will use Lite Write and work with a partner to build the pictures using light up pegs! We will use the Play-Doh to create different models, and we will also use them during literacy and math. We love using Play-Doh to make letters and numbers!
