Full STEAM Ahead With This Artistic Geometry Project
My students need two 3-D Collage Boxes, a 3D Geometric Shapes Tub, and art supplies for our second grade STEAM geometry project.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Marosi's classroom raised $203

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My classroom consists primarily of students who are learning English as a second language. I also mainstream hard of hearing students, autistic students, and learning disabled students in my all inclusive classroom. This project will use geometry to create an amazing artistic geometry project.
These supplies will be used to teach geometric shapes and create amazing art as part of the geometry unit in our second grade math curriculum.
These math supplies will enable my students to get real experience with the plane and solid geometric shapes that they are learning about in their math books. Currently, I partner for STEAM activities with a second grade hard of hearing class and they will also participate in this project.
My students love doing STEAM activities! I try to make my math and art lessons exciting by bringing these lessons to life so all students can be exposed to the STEAM curriculum. The goal of this project will be for my students to use the materials to learn about geometry. I hope this project will help inspire my students' imagination and positively influence many of these students to stay in school and pursue careers in the STEAM fields.
My Project
We will soon be starting a unit on plane and solid shapes as part of our math curriculum. I plan on beginning this project with the 3-D Geometric Shapes Tub. My students will be able to look at and hold each of the solid shapes as they learn the names of each shape along with the number of sides, faces, and vertices.
The next step will be for my class and our hard of hearing buddy class to use the 3-D Collage sets to create an amazing art project using an assortment of solid geometric shapes.
We will use the Pacon Tagboard to create diorama boxes that will be used to display their geometric creations. They will use plane shapes to trace and create the background for their geometric creations.
My students will also write about their art project including a description and a listing of all the different geometric shapes they used to create their geometric work of art. Their art projects and written descriptions will be put on a bulletin board in our school hallway for everyone to see.
This project will allow my students to learn about geometry and create amazing 3-D geometric art. It will enable my students to go beyond just reading about geometric shapes in their books. These supplies will enrich my curriculum and allow my students to use their creativity and become excited about what they are learning! I want this project to help inspire my students' imaginations and positively influence many of these students to stay in school and pursue careers in the STEAM fields.
