Full Steam Ahead Using Computer Technology

My students need 4 laptops, paper, and toner to do their research tasks, reports and PowerPoint presentations for their academic projects.

My Students

My students are very creative high achievers who are always thirsting for knowledge to challenge them. They are a diverse group of students who travel from various parts of the urban city, arriving to school early each day eager to learn.

We are limited in advanced technology!

We are a Title I school that provides free breakfast and free/reduced-price lunches to all of our students. We are located in the heart of Los Angeles and became a Magnet school two years ago. We offer environmental studies and garden science including an edible garden where our students can plant and grow their own food.

My Project

As a result of instruction students will research the benefits of fruits, vegetables and herbs and develop a PowerPoint Presentation that will reinforce this lesson. Topics to Explore would be fruits, vegetables and herbs that provide vitamins and minerals to the body and how they can they prevent diseases.

The ultimate promise of technology is to make us master of a world that we command by the push of a button.

Students will be working in small groups researching information and data on the computer surfing the internet. We will need computer paper and ink for our printer so that my students will be able to print their work. Technology enables students to manipulate information in a manner that accelerates both understanding and the progression of higher-order thinking skills. As students gather more real-world data they would be able to share their findings with others by choosing the task of a research paper or a PowerPoint presentation.

These laptops would enhance my students' academic success by allowing them to stay current with the changing trends, and meet the technology requirements of the 21st Century Common Core Standards. Thank you in advance for your support and assistance with our technological needs.
