'Full STEAM Ahead' Teaching Mother Earth's Future Caretakers!

My students need paint and clay to create animal habitat boxes after researching the various ecosystems. They also need the science water kits to bring about awareness of human impact on the environment.

Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Welcome to my intellectually gifted classroom where I teach a very culturally diverse group of highly motivated and inquisitive group of youngsters.

My students are caring, kind to one another, and full of life and laughter.

They come to my classroom with a willing heart to learn and grow. They have big ambitions and big dreams!

These students are our bright future. They have such a passion for learning, but the small amount of money we receive for materials cannot cover the cost of the projects that I feel will challenge these exceptional students. They are going places in their lives, and I want to help them get there. Will you be a part of our journey?

My Project

This unit embraces the STEAM concept in that it will kick off using technology to research various animal habitats and ecosystems and what environmental challenges are facing each of them.

Students will then be actively engaged in the arts by recreating their chosen animals and habitats.

Why art? Some see it as just playing. I see it as creating innovative, creative, inventive, out-of-the-box thinkers who will become our future problem solvers.

Students will become aware of the need to preserve the earth through practices such as recycling and repurposing items. Students will be shown how detrimental the effects of waste has been on the environment and will be given an additional challenge to repurpose materials to use in their habitat creations.

Students will then have a chance to hands-on check various water sources for contamination through the donated water kits and will learn that what happens with the water system doesn't stay local but has effects throughout the watershed.

My objective in this unit is to bring about environmental awareness and to hopefully produce future thoughtful adults who will make a positive impact in their lives.

Will you help me 'Save the Earth' by creating impactful, environmentally conscious future problem solvers?
