My students need books, STEM materials, and building sets. The materials requested which will help get my classroom off to a terrific start for the 2018-2019 school year.
When you look back on your elementary school career do you remember the fun worksheets that you were able to complete? Probably not. However, I bet you remember the science projects, the group projects, the hands-on lessons. My school is a STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics) school. My students will be making purposeful connections in and through STEM and the Arts. They will be solving real world problems through hands on learning, critical thinking, exploration, and technology. This is such an exciting time for the teachers and the students.
My Project
The materials and books that I am requesting will help establish my classroom to have a major STEAM focus. My students will have materials that they need to get the school year started as engineers and mathematicians. While using the materials, students will be able to design and build the real life problems that they will be trying to solve while integrating reading into the curriculum. The classroom will be integrated across the curriculum (science, social studies, reading, and writing). These materials will be used for all subjects. The read aloud books will drive our whole group instruction which will then be based on our projects and engineering challenges. The students will then take their materials to try to come up with a solution to the problem given by designing buildings, boats, bridges, etc.
