Full Steam Ahead: Exploring Earth, Space, Life, & Physics
Please help me give my students a variety of hands-on STEM kits, including a Thames & Kosmos Planetarium Project, to support their learning in physical science, life science, and earth and space science.
I am seeking funding to provide 51 fifth-grade students with hands-on STEM kits to support their learning in physical science, life science, and earth and space science, which are core Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS categories.
These kits, including the planetarium, gear bots, water filtration kit, food chains kit, and chain reaction kit, will offer engaging, inquiry-based experiences that deepen understanding through experimentation and real-world application.
In physical science, students will explore energy, matter, and motion by building circuits, testing forces, and experimenting with simple machines. Life science kits will allow them to investigate plant and animal structures, ecosystems, and energy flow through food webs. For earth and space science, students will model Earth’s systems, study weather patterns, and simulate the movement of celestial bodies.
Our science instruction is currently limited by a lack of materials that allow students to move beyond textbooks and into meaningful, hands-on learning. These STEM kits will help bridge that gap, fostering critical thinking, collaboration, and curiosity. With over 50 students served, this investment will benefit a diverse group of learners and enhance engagement across the science curriculum.
Funding will directly support the purchase of high-quality, reusable STEM kits aligned with grade-level standards. With your support, we can help every student see themselves as scientists and inspire a lifelong love of discovery.
