Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our second-grade STEM focus this year is to learn about the connection between plant life and animal life and how they are organized in a cycle and rely upon each other to survive. We will grow our seeds in our pots and place them in our school garden and build our birdhouses to attract our animals to help with the pollination process, meeting our AZ State Life Science Standard of developing models to represent how life on Earth depends on energy from the Sun and from other organisms.
We will continue our community partnership with The US Forest Service Red Rock Ranger District and showcase how simple science and the beauty of nature are right here in our school community during their “on-campus field trips.” It unites us in celebrating "the world around us" while learning that animals are ultimately dependent on plants for their survival through food chains and food webs, and we all can be part of that process.
