This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are amazing 7th graders in an urban community. The classes range from honors to co-taught. We have a very diverse population of learners,who have different needs to make them successful. As well as a large population of students who receive free/reduced lunch and low income housing. Even though my students come from different backgrounds they are all capable of success!
All of my students love the universal language of math, and are in need of different experiences, but resources are limited.
My students are looking for new opportunities to make math, more interesting and fun.
My Project
As SOL's time is approaching, my students are going to be staying after school for tutoring, and will need snacks to help them focus on their school work after hours, and cleaning supplies to keep our environment clean.
Name brand snack such as Quaker Granola Bars, Mott's juice, and Dole Fruit cups will help motivate my students to stay after school for tutoring and a healthy snack,and Clorox wipes and hand sanitizer will keep over environment clean and healthy.
It is very important that students have access to snacks after school for tutoring, because it helps them stay motivated and food no longer becomes an excuse on why they can't stay back.
