I teach a great group of students in the social-emotional/behavioral disabilities program at my school in MA. We are part of the Boston Public Schools system and many students are on IEPs or are considered English language learners. Many will be from immigrant/refugee families. Students are part of the free lunch program.
My students are amazing.
I bet every teacher says that on this site. It's almost like we're parents, and we all think our kids are the best. Mine truly are.
My students come to school every day, knowing it is a safe place to take risks and achieve great things. Some are fighting with emotions that they can't control.
Others are learning how to identify strategies to overcome their disabilities, while we teach them that nothing can hold them back with hard work and determination. Others are just looking for a safe, warm place with a hug and food to put in their bellies.
I am asking for a hot griddle so I can provide my Advisory students with a hot breakfast in the morning. This would be a great surprise for them to walk into. I will use the hot griddle to make pancakes, bacon, sausage, and toast. The plates will be for serving and I hope to provide hot chocolate! We are in Boston, MA where the weather often dips below the freezing level throughout the winter months. Many of the students wait long amounts of time for the bus (or walk!) to school. This would be an amazing treat. I would also be able to share this with multiple other classrooms on my team for any type of breakfast gathering. Thank you for considering my classroom!
