This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I have been teaching kindergarten for many years. My favorite part is watching them grow and learn every single day. They are like little sponges, wanting to absorb everything. Learning so much takes a lot of brain power! My school realizes that and has set aside a daily designated snack time for kindergarten to refuel their bodies and minds after a long day of learning.
Unfortunately, there is no room in the school budget to fund the snacks.
This leaves me purchasing snacks on my own or asking parents to provide snacks. Our school is a Title I school, with many parents on a limited budget. Many parents are unable to supply snacks for twenty students, and, if they can every now and then, it is used up very quickly due to the limited amount of bulk shopping stores in our small town.
My goal with this project is to be able to fund my classroom snacks for an entire year. This goal is two-fold. First and foremost, it takes the burden off of families to provide snack. They can rest assured that their children are receiving the nutrition they need to make it through the school day without feeling burdened to provide snack or guilty that they can not do so. In addition, receiving these snacks up front will allow me to ensure that snacks of students' choosing is readily available every day.
Thank you for considering funding my full bellies for little learners project!
