Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students deserve access to everything they need. All students do! However, at Title I schools like the one I teach in, students don’t always have access to the things most of us take for granted!
Help me provide my students with the simple things!
They are in need of period products, deodorant, pencils, etc! I don’t believe students should have to ask for these basic needs, so I’ll be keeping them in student resource bins for free access as needed. On my shelves, I will have a “feminine hygiene” bin with the menstrual products (pads) funded by this project. I will also have a hygiene products bin, where I keep things like masks, hand wipes, etc. I will be keeping the mini deodorants from this funding project for students to take freely there as well.
My students also often go hungry and as such, struggle to focus in class! I would love to also be able to provide them with snacks when requested to ensure they have their basic needs met, can be energized and focused in class, and just overall more engaged! I’ve included snacks packs that include things like Chex mix packs, fruit snacks, etc!
