I am a Kindergarten ICT teacher on Long Island and I truly have the greatest profession! Every single day I am fortunate enough to grow, learn, and play with the most wonderful and extraordinary little humans. My students have a variety of diverse learning, behavioral, and social needs. My staff and I work diligently to ensure that these unique and individual needs are met appropriately in order to facilitate progress, comfort, and, most importantly, happiness. My Project
I am seeking assistance to provide my students with flexible seating. As every teacher knows, it can be extremely difficult for a child to sit still. Their inability to sit for periods of time can cause the child to become unfocused on the given task. I feel flexible seating will not only engage my little learners but it will allow them to have a choice in their seating. This option will also have an impact on the way our little humans will learn. It will allow for the range of motion the child needs that a typical chair does not offer. Research shows that students that are given the chance to move have a better academic performance and comfort for all. This seating helps children to self-regulate their jitters and teaches them ways to self-regulate their needs to achieve their highest potential.
