Securing a grant to provide nutritious food and healthy drinks for the our high school football team is essential to our team’s growth. Nutrient-rich foods and beverages can fuel the players' bodies, enhance their endurance, strength, and overall athletic performance, and reduce the risk of injuries. In many low-income neighborhoods, families may struggle with food insecurity, meaning they lack consistent access to nutritious food.
Teaching student-athletes about the importance of nutrition and proper hydration educates them about healthy lifestyle choices beyond the football field.
It empowers them to make informed decisions about their diet and overall well-being, which can positively influence their academic performance and long-term health outcomes.
This team has real drive and because they see, we believe in them they are at school at 6:00 am Monday through Thursday working out. We provide sandwiches, juices, and snacks donated by the coaches and their families.
Our goal is to ensure that all players have access to nutritious snacks and beverages before, during, and after practices and games. We know this can contribute to their overall health, energy levels, and performance on the field. Additionally, our goal will continue to include promoting healthy eating habits among the players, which can have long-term benefits for their well-being beyond their time on the football team and at our high school.
