it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I absolutely love my students for their resilience, creativity, and eagerness to learn despite the challenges they face. In our special education classroom, every day is an opportunity for growth, and my students consistently amaze me with their determination and unique perspectives. However, being in a low-income community, they often lack the basic resources that can make a huge difference in their learning experience.
Snacks are essential to keep my students energized and focused throughout the day.
Many of them come to school hungry, and a simple snack can help them stay engaged and ready to learn. Headphones are crucial for individual learning, especially for students who need to minimize distractions. They allow each student to focus on personalized lessons and activities, helping them progress at their own pace.
Chair bands are a game-changer for my students who need to release excess energy. These bands provide a discreet way for them to fidget and move, which helps them concentrate better during lessons. Tissues are another simple but important resource, ensuring that students can stay comfortable and healthy, particularly during cold and allergy seasons. Lastly, markers will unleash their creativity during art projects and make learning more interactive and fun.
My goal for this project is to create a nurturing and supportive environment where my students can thrive. These resources will help meet their basic needs and enhance their ability to focus, learn, and express themselves. What makes my students special is their ability to shine brightly despite the odds—they just need the right tools to help them succeed.
