This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The reason why I think having these books in the classroom is important is to help with cultural understanding. Textbooks provide facts, but travel books offer firsthand accounts and vivid descriptions of diverse cultures, traditions, and lifestyles. They allow students to experience the world through the eyes of those who have been there, fostering empathy and respect for different perspectives.
Travel books can challenge preconceived notions and stereotypes by presenting nuanced and authentic portrayals of various societies.
They help students understand the complexities of global cultures and appreciate the richness of human diversity.
My students are a vibrant and curious group, eager to explore the world around them. I see incredible potential in each of my students, and I'm excited to help them reach their full potential. These books will help them to succeed.
