My Project

Parents and teachers all over the country are struggling financially due to day to day expenses. Teaching at a low-income school where nearly all students have been raised in poverty is obvious in my day to day job. If I can provide these students with the necessary supplies, it will help immensely.

Bills that are past due, utilities that have been shut off, clothes that have been worn numerous days in a row, these are all burdens students carry when walking into the school each day.

While it may not be much in comparison to the previous examples listed, if I can ease the mind of the students in my classroom knowing that they will have supplies each day, it's a small piece in the right direction. We cannot expect these students to break the trend from those before them if they do not have the minimum supplies to do the day to day work.

Unfortunately, working at a low-income school means that the teachers are not receiving the pay that many other districts around are providing. I spend a good amount of each paycheck on materials for my classroom to ease the stress of those in the classroom.
