My Project
Our elementary library seeks funding to enhance its nonfiction collection with engaging, age-appropriate titles that support curiosity, critical thinking, and curriculum alignment across all grade levels. Many of our students come from underserved communities and have limited access to high-quality informational texts outside of school. A robust nonfiction collection is vital to helping students develop literacy skills, build background knowledge, and foster a lifelong love of learning.
These books will be carefully selected to reflect diverse voices and topics, including animals, science experiments, and social-emotional learning.
By providing students with up-to-date, visually appealing nonfiction texts, we aim to support inquiry-based learning and meet the varied interests and reading levels of our student body. Funding for this project will help create equitable access to resources that empower students to ask questions, seek answers, and engage deeply with the world around them. These nonfiction books will serve as valuable tools during science, social studies, and literacy instruction, while also encouraging independent exploration and discovery. We aim to cultivate a library that reflects the diverse interests and backgrounds of our students, supports academic success, and inspires curiosity. With this grant, we can provide the building blocks for informed, thoughtful learners who are equipped to thrive both inside and outside the classroom.
