Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are curious, creative, and eager to learn. Despite the challenges of coming from a lower-income community, they are passionate about STEM and excited to explore new technologies. They thrive when given the opportunity to engage in hands-on, inquiry-based learning, and 3D printing gives them a chance to turn their ideas into reality.
The MakerBot Replicator filament will allow my students to bring their ideas to life through 3D printing and help level the playing field, giving them access to cutting-edge tools that can spark a lifelong love for engineering, design, and innovation..
By designing and printing their own models, students will engage in hands-on learning that reinforces STEM concepts, problem-solving skills, and creativity. With access to filament, they can prototype designs, test iterations, and refine their ideas, just like real engineers and designers. This will also support lessons in math (measurement, geometry), science (engineering, material properties), and technology (CAD software and 3D modeling).
My goal is to provide students with meaningful, project-based learning experiences that help them develop essential 21st-century skills. I want them to collaborate, think critically, and innovate as they design solutions to real-world problems. By having access to filament, students can experiment, iterate, and refine their designs—helping them build confidence in their ability to create and problem-solve.
