This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our students are full of energy and eager to learn. It is our job to get our students to LOVE learning and show them the importance of it.
Our students are determined to succeed; they just need the proper support to guide them.
Our school is located in North Philadelphia where our population is predominantly black and hispanic. Most of our students walk to school with their siblings and families.
I am the math lead teacher in a Title I school where 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. I am able to support all our students academically as well as emotionally.
My Project
"When is lunch", "I'm hungry", "Can I have a snack", are some of the many phrases I hear during the long period up until lunch. Our students come to school eager and excited to learn. Being that lunch occurs for our students 5 hours after breakfast, hunger starts to set in. Many students do not come to school with a snack in hand so having snacks to provide for students will make a world of difference. They will have more energy to fuel and engage their learning before lunchtime occurs.
