My Students
A winner is someone who recognizes their God-given talents, works to develop them into the highest level skills, and uses these skills to accomplish his goals.
Unfortunately, not all students have access to proper workout and training equipment to accomplish his or her goals.
My students work hard to grow, to learn and to succeed.
90 percent of our students receive free or reduced-price lunch. At 24.2 percent, Mississippi has one of the highest poverty levels in the United States. 90 percent of the basketball team members live in poverty and are plagued by social and environmental barriers that hinder access to the constructive physical activities that promote social and academic success.
Due to the extreme poverty, team members cannot afford the uniforms, shoes, registration fees, and other costs associated with organized youth athletics. The school has limited resources for in-school activities and even less for non-school hour enrichment activities.
My Project
The materials in this project will be used to fuel high school athletes. It is important to always have something on your stomach before participating in any athletic activity and I would like to ensure that my student-athletes have that. Each item in this project will be given to my athletes to help fuel there performance and when they just need a snack. The snacks chosen in this project are both healthy and nutritious, and will be used as examples to my athletes of the right snacks to eat in and out of season.
