This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have a classroom of very kind and hard-working forth graders who love to be challenged. We love to go to work on Chromebooks and improve in reading and math. Our favorite book on our Vooks app is Unicorn and Horse, especially when the horse passes gas.

My class loves art, computers, PE, library and recess, especially recess.

My diverse group of students at our Title I school are trying so hard to become readers, writers, and creative thinkers. They are improving academically and socially every day.

My Project

Frequently, one of my kiddos tells me they are hungry because they didn't have breakfast. I also had students not eat enough of their lunches and do not have the fuel or energy to stay academically focused for the rest of the school day. Having a little mini fridge in my room would be a great way to keep healthy snacks chilled for them in times of hunger. We know that with Maslow's "Hierarchy of Needs" students can not learn without their basic needs being met.

A mini fridge will be a way that I can help meet students basic needs so they are able to learn and grow.

Additionally, the small refrigerator will be used for science projects that need to keep cold.
