Since 2011, our students have participated in a week-long experiential learning program called Project Week. For the past 2 years, our beloved week of enriching activities and events has been cancelled due to the pandemic. This year, we are aiming to give our kids the Project Week they deserve!
Our group, Dance in the City, will enable students to experience and learn about the history and cultural roots of a wide variety of dance styles in Boston, build their self-confidence through movement, and help our students to feel included, involved, and invested in the dance scene in their city.
We will be traveling to dance studios around the city, participating in dance workshops that are both experiential and informative, meeting with college dance teams, and going to see a live dance performance! Some of the dance styles we will be experiencing include salsa, bachata, waacking, irish dance, hip hop and more!
We hope for students to be dancing their hearts out, with energy left over to be able to think deeply and thoughtfully about the histories of various dances; and if you know middle schoolers, you know how hungry they get!
Thank you for helping us provide snacks and drinks for our students as they get back to normal and enjoy a week of amazing adventures!
