Help me give my students access to basic needs essentials. With 90 minute class periods and one 30 minute lunch, our students typically sit in class hungry, experiencing difficulty focusing. Items will fund "grab what you need" corner.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As a high school English teacher, I am blessed to be able to see my students every day and foster connection, creativity, and eagerness to learn. However, this is difficult to do when our student's basic needs are not met.
Many of our students grow hungry during our classroom periods, and experience difficulty focusing.
They also experience difficulty in acquiring basic needs essentials.
My goal is to enhance my grab what you need corner so that it can offer students the essentials they need and deserve without question. These supplies will be available for them to access at anytime throughout the day so they do not have to worry about how they can acquire a snack to fuel their hunger, how they will ease their anxiety in class or how they will get access to basic hygiene products. Your support will help ensure all students have to worry about is showing up to learn!
