My Project
In our busy classroom, one of the biggest obstacles to learning is something many people take for granted—a full stomach. I teach amazing second graders at a Title I school where many families face food insecurity. While our school does offer breakfast, students sometimes arrive late, miss the meal, or still need a little extra fuel to focus.
To help solve this, I’d love to set up a Cereal Station in our classroom—a self-serve area with two cereal dispensers and a rotating stock of healthy cereals.
This simple, consistent resource would let students grab a quick bite without shame, stress, or disruption. It’s a small act that can make a big impact on their ability to learn and feel cared for.
Cereal is easy, kid-friendly, and creates a welcoming classroom environment where their basic needs are met. Whether they need a full serving or just a snack to hold them until lunch, this station will ensure no student starts the day hungry again.
Students can’t do their best when they’re hungry. With your support, I can make sure that every child in my classroom feels safe, nourished, and ready to succeed—every single day.
