It is what it is. Due to school schedules, my 4th-grade students have an 11:00 lunch. You can imagine that eating so early can mean rumbling tummies by the time I see them at 2:00.
Students are encouraged to bring snacks from home, but this is not always possible.
Most of my students come from food insecure households and have to do without.
I have tried to supplement my students snacks by bringing granola bars and other snacks from my own pantry. However, with the amount of need among my students makes this a financially taxing task.
If I could supply my students with healthy snacks to help them get through the last part of the day, their ability to concentrate and retain knowledge would most certainly benefit.
