My Students
My students are sweet kindergartners who love learning, especially math and science. They come from a Title I school where 100% of the students receive a free lunch. However, they don't let their income define who they are. They come from a high crime, high poverty, and low socioeconomic neighborhood. The school is a safe haven for the students. They come in every day eager to learn. They have been learning about growth mindset, especially in math and science. They love the fact that anyone can learn.
My Project
We put such an emphasis on reading, writing, and math that science and other subjects get pushed to the side. We are hardly given time to teach science. By having this STEM Bundle - K-Gr. 1, it will allow students to explore the science, math, art, and technology behind their favorite stories. This will give them a chance to explore all aspects of learning. This goes beyond worksheets. This will let them use their hands and brains, and make mistakes. This STEM Bundle - K-Gr. 1 will challenge and train students for the future. Students crave challenges and these kits are perfect for my little thinkers and doers.
