This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Many of my students come from low-income households and they all qualify for the free and reduced lunch program, so providing snacks for them at school is a vital part of their health and learning. With snacks in the classroom, students can focus more on their learning, and less on their growling tummies. For many students, the only time they eat is at school. Some families send snacks when they can but many cannot afford food for their own homes. This project helps students get the food they need during the day so they can be successful at school. When their basic needs are met, students can work to their full potential.
Hearing a student begging for snacks or confess they have no food at home is heartbreaking.
By the afternoon, my students are very hungry! These fruit snacks, crackers, cookies, chips, and juice will provide nutritious options for all students in my classroom without having to rely solely on parents to provide snacks. Thank you for considering my classroom and this project when making your donation!
