Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

On the day of our state test (the MCAS), we want our students to feel energized to succeed. Help us provide a breakfast and some snacks to keep seventh-graders at spark full and focused during the 4+ hour long test.

Food insecurity is a major issue in our school community and we want to make sure no kid is unable to focus on test day (or any day) because of hunger.

100% of our kids receive free breakfast and lunch at school daily. The school provided meals are a lifeline for so many of our kids, but even for those who don't rely on it as much, everyone gets very hungry during a 4 hour test.

Some students stock up and bring their own snacks, but every year there are many kids who show up having had a small or no breakfast and sit down to test. By getting a variety of snacks for the whole grade, we can level the playing field a little and send the important message to every kid that we care about them. Additionally, these snacks signify that test day is a special day and just like athletes, we want them to show off all their preparation and hard work!
