Remember the days of mom telling you, "Eat your veggies or no dessert?" My students have the same problem but it's the teacher trying to get them to eat healthy.
My students are excited students that want to cook, explore and expand their knowledge in nutrition, wellness and life skills.
The school has about 600 students total so it is a small close knit community. Many students dream of having a family someday but need better nutrition and cooking knowledge to support a healthy lifestyle.
My Project
I teach High School Family and Consumer Sciences in a small community. We have nice kitchen labs but we are missing equipment and materials. I have requested aprons, veggie brushes, colanders that are basic items needed. As well as carving tool set for students to create edible art with fruits and vegetables. We offer Nutrition and Wellness, Intro to Culinary Arts, and Advanced Nutrition and Wellness. I want to challenge my students to know more than apples, oranges and corn.
I love teaching that art of cooking and baking.
Teaching students to love to use garlic and eat zucchini or mangoes is an amazing site. I want students to leave my classroom with the knowledge to prepare safe nutritional dishes for families to enjoy.
