My Students
Talk about energy! This Kindergarten class is the most energetic group I have ever encountered in my ten years of teaching! They are full of life and love. It is my joy and privilege to be able to learn from these children.
When given the opportunity to work together, these students shine.
I see amazing ideas come from their collaboration. They are caring and kind individuals, always looking for ways to help each other.
Technology is another strength of theirs. They are engaged and able to focus for a good length of time when using learning websites or software.
My Project
This community school in Portland has a garden that students grow themselves. Clipboards, markers and pens would allow us to draw pictures of what we observe throughout the process of planting, caring for and harvesting the "fruits of our labor".
This experience will help children to understand how plants grow and what they need.
By documenting each step of the process, they will see first hand how they are responsible for the well being of the garden. We can analyze what worked well for the plant and what did not. If they take care of the garden, the garden will then take care of them.
