This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Talk about a diverse community! My students represent various ethnic backgrounds coming from different countries, and different learning styles and needs. My students are special because despite what society perceives them as needs and to be challenged (in language, academic, and social areas); they are the sponge that absorbs learning just like the students I worked with before. They are kids who are excited about life and the world of learning. The only difference is they need something more and different. That's where you come in.
Students I work with are identified as English Language Learners from various ethnic backgrounds; with special needs in grades K-5 in an elementary school in the high-needs area of the Bronx.
My Project
Our little kiddies come to school with a smile on their face excited to start the day learning from their teacher and friends. Their smiles continue as they fill their brain with knowledge and their tummies with healthy breakfast and lunch. However, what they enjoy the most is to be outside with their friends socializing and playing games.
Everyone knows the importance of socialization at an early age, but it's been challenging since many kids are without mittens and gloves in this freezing NY winter weather.
With many students without mittens and gloves in this freezing winter weather, their little hands are cold and dry.
Also, due to the pandemic we are dismissing students outside the building and it is FREEZING! Little ones have to wait until a guardian comes to pick him/her up so the wait is indefinite. Please help get warm mittens for those little hands this winter ASAP so they can at least play and wait with warm hands. Your gift will also warm their little but BIG hearts this winter, too.
