My Students
Do you remember being in first grade and learning to read your first book? For my first grader being able to read a simple word is exciting for them. Help my students be fluent in their phonics and sight words.
The students in my classroom look forward to coming to school and learning new and exciting things every day.
For a lot of students in the classroom, I am the one thing they know they will see on a day to day basis and that I am a constant fixture in their lives. My students come from families that don't know where their next meal might be, they may be living with a family member or they are taking care of siblings while their parents work the third shift. Many of my students come from households that speak a language other than English and tend a Title I school where the budget gets cut more and more affecting the education they are receiving.
My Project
Do you remember what it is like to go outside on a crisp, snowy day? Well, many times my students come to school without the basic warm clothing that keeps them warm when waiting for the bus or playing outside at recess on a crisp, cool day.
I love taking my students outside even when it is cold and snowy outside, but without proper outside wear, we are unable to refresh for the afternoon of learning.
My students need coats, gloves, and hats to keep them warm in the crisp air. I believe it is important for my students to get out and get some fresh air, even on cold days. Having these items will allow us to continue to go outside and enjoy the sun and fresh air.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
