Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I work at a Title I elementary school in a low income area. Many of my students rarely leave their immediate community adding to the lack of opportunities and experiences that would help broaden their horizons and build the background knowledge needed to truly access content and make real life connections. I rely on lots of realia, videos, and music to introduce, teach, elaborate and make content relevant and accessible to my tiny humans. The district is beginning to limit us on all school issued devices what we can access. This is where I can be a hero and use a new non district issued MacBook as opposed to my outdated ThinkPad computer. Help me open up all the possibilities for my tiny humans. Having a non school issued device will allow be to access educational and platforms where resources and ideas can help students flourish and make connections through visual supports. Help level the playing field for my littles. With this device my students will be able to access Animal Planet on Hulu, National Geographic on Disney+, as well as hear music on Pandora while working.
